A dazzling purpose-built hotel in the heart of the Big Apple, since its conception in 2022 The Ritz-Carlton New York, NoMad has become a magnet for luxury residential living. LLM writer Georgie Bentley-Bucke checked in to discover more.
Towering 500 feet above the sleepless streets of Manhattan is The Ritz-Carlton New York, NoMad. Built in memory of its neighbourhood, since its conception in 2022, the five-star hotel from Marriott has celebrated the cultural identity of the blocks at its footprint.
Tin Pan Alley: the Big Apple’s musical hub and the birthplace of modern American music coincides with the vibrant New York flower district. The creative elements from the musicians and florists are both honoured throughout The Ritz-Carlton New York, NoMad.
Stepping through the doors and into the lobby, this is obvious from the prominent lush plants and vibrant florals that juxtapose their natural elements against the exciting urban environment.

Situated on West 28th Street, the tower designed by Rafael Viñoly (of the iconic 432 Park Avenue) is located north of Madison Square Park and is the younger sister to The Ritz-Carlton New York, Central Park.
Inside, a team of interior designers were united to create a variety of spaces that change and transform as guests move throughout the building. Leaning into nature as a central idea, in collaboration with local artists, florals and botanical details are woven among the luxury hotel’s ever-changing spaces.
With a smaller than average footprint in the centre of urban island, The Ritz-Carlton New York, NoMad’s luxury comes from its height.
Towering high into the sky to showcase some of the city’s most incredible views, since being built just a few years ago, this modern example of 2020s architecture represents present-day architecture, settling comfortably into the famous New York skyline.
Rooms and suites

The interior design concept at The Ritz-Carlton New York, NoMad certifies the exceptional views to take centre stage
The interior design concept at The Ritz-Carlton New York, NoMad ensure the exceptional views take centre stage. Embodying a neutral palette with plush furnishings and luxurious fabrics, 219 guestrooms, 31 suites, and 16 one- and two-bedroom penthouse residences provide an elite residential experience.
Occupying the top four floors of the purpose-built hotel is a collection of 16 pied-à-terre penthouse residences, conceived under the design eye of renowned architect Rafael Viñoly.
Ranging from 950 to 1,850 sq. ft., the expansive one- and two-bedroom residences pair generous proportions with tailored interiors, while floor-to-ceiling views frame Manhattan’s iconic skyline.
The result is an elevated residential experience that offers a more private way to experience luxury in the heart of New York.
Meanwhile, situated on the 37th floor is the Ritz-Carlton Suite. The pinnacle of luxury, here the Ritz-Carlton’s opulent persona is taken up a notch, uniting privacy with security and service.
Whilst staying in this suite, guests can make use of their very own wellness space, including a Peloton bike for workouts, all in private. This sits alongside separate living and dining areas, a media room, a 194-square-foot walk-in closet, and a service entrance.
A collection of The Ritz-Carlton New York, NoMad’s premium rooms on these higher floors are also part of the five-star property’s Club Level.
A member’s lounge experience suspended among the city’s skyline, this urban oasis features an all-day buffet from Michelin-starred chef José Andrés, champagne (or pretty much any other refreshment guests fancy on demand).
This is elegantly paired with views of Downtown Manhattan and the Statue of Liberty for the ultimate sense of place.
Food and drink

The Mediterranean makes its mark on the ground floor at Zaytinya, one of New York’s newer destinations for mezze-style dining
The Mediterranean makes its mark on the ground floor at Zaytinya, one of New York’s popular destinations for mezze-style dining. Drawing inspiration from Turkish, Greek and Lebanese cuisine, the menu is served in a bright and spacious setting that also doubles as the hotel’s breakfast restaurant each morning.
Finished in natural wood and fresh azure blues straight from the European ocean, the 140-seat restaurant offers sharing plates that offer a fresh alternative to the distinctly American surroundings.
Tear and share dishes such as the Ritz Nomad Breakfast with Yukon gold potatoes or the Zaytinya-style breakfast sandwich washed down with Turkish tea for breakfast.
Whilst at lunchtime, dive into baba ghanoush, creamy tzatziki with lamb pitas and mezze plates from lamb kofte to shish and octopus. For dinner, round off the day with large plates such as dry-aged hanger steak, lamb shoulder or the kebab platter.
For cocktails paired with sweeping 270-degree views across Manhattan is Nubeluz by José Andrés. One of the city’s most elegant new cocktail destinations, here can be found an extensive menu of classic and signature cocktails, light bites and sharing Tablas (Spanish sharing plates).
Designed by Martin Brudnizki, the contemporary space reimagines New York’s glamorous decades gone by. Reflective surfaces, sumptuous textiles and modern materials come together to create an opulent yet distinctly modern setting high above the city.
For an imaginative take on the traditional steakhouse, there is Bazaar Meat by José Andrés. Fill your fork with large-cut meats cooked over an open wood fire, under the expert eye of Michelin-starred chef José Andrés. Here, the menu champions an impressive selection of American Wagyu, alongside the exclusive ‘Tasting Through Japan’ experience, where premium Wagyu and Kobe beef are prepared tableside on traditional Ishiyaki stone.
Lastly, the Bazaar Bar, designed by Lázaro Rosa-Violán, is a luxurious library environment complete with plush banquette seating.
Spa and wellness

Wellness comes courtesy of the hotel’s 6,800-square-foot Ritz-Carlton Spa and Fitness Centre, where eight treatment rooms sit alongside separate sauna and steam facilities. Luxury skincare brand Augustinus Bader heads up the spa’s treatment menu with a signature facial, “The Method”, that has been given a distinct New York twist with exclusive scents and oils inspired by the city’s nearby Flower District.
The spa boutique is equally considered, stocking a curated selection of Augustinus Bader skincare alongside fragrances and products from Parisian parfumerie Diptyque. For those looking to work up a sweat instead, the fitness centre is open around the clock, with training equipment, including the Peloton bikes found in the Ritz-Carlton Suite.
